Ransom Horror: Two Suspects Arrested After Missing Kyenjojo Boy Found Dead

KYENJOJO — Police in Kyenjojo District have arrested two suspects in connection with the kidnapping and murder of a seven-year-old boy whose disappearance sparked a frantic search by family members and residents.
The victim, identified as Osber Turinayo, went missing on June 12 after leaving a local video hall in Kisoroma Village, Kitongore Parish, Kisojo Sub-county, where he had reportedly gone to watch a movie with his brothers. Efforts by his family and the community to locate him proved unsuccessful, prompting a police investigation.
According to police spokesperson ACP Kituuma Rusoke, the case took a disturbing turn three days later when the family received a phone call from an unknown individual demanding a ransom of Shs1.5 million in exchange for the child’s release. The family had already reported the disappearance to authorities, who had begun tracking leads.
Investigators later arrested two suspects identified as Isaiah Manyindo, 26, and Erias Twimukye, 17. During interrogation, the suspects allegedly confessed to kidnapping and killing the child before leading detectives to the scene where the body had been concealed beneath tree leaves.
Police say investigations are ongoing as detectives work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the crime and whether other individuals may have been involved. The suspects are expected to be arraigned in court once inquiries are completed.
The tragic incident has reignited concerns about child safety and the growing threat of kidnapping cases in parts of the country. Addressing journalists, Rusoke urged parents and guardians to exercise greater vigilance over their children, especially during night hours.
“We are going to punish the suspects, but we cannot bring back the life of the child,” he said, emphasizing the importance of parental supervision in preventing similar tragedies.
The murder of the young boy has sent shockwaves through the Kyenjojo community, with residents calling for swift justice and tougher measures to combat child abductions. Community leaders have also appealed to parents to closely monitor children’s movements and promptly report suspicious activity to authorities.
As investigators continue to piece together the events leading to Turinayo’s death, the case stands as another grim reminder of the devastating consequences of child kidnapping and the urgent need for stronger community vigilance and law enforcement action.
