Michael Carrick Agrees New Manchester United Deal Until 2028

Manchester United are set to continue under the leadership of Michael Carrick after the former midfielder agreed a new two-year deal to remain the club’s permanent head coach.

According to Sky Sports, the agreement also includes an optional additional year that could keep Carrick at Old Trafford until 2029.

The final legal details are currently being completed, with the club reportedly hopeful of making an official announcement within the next 24 to 48 hours.

United will host Nottingham Forest on Sunday in their final home game of the season, where the permanent head coach traditionally addresses supporters after the match.

Club director of football Jason Wilcox and chief executive Omar Berrada are understood to strongly support Carrick’s appointment following an impressive run of 15 matches in charge.

During that period, Carrick has guided United back into the UEFA Champions League places while securing major victories against rivals including Manchester City, Liverpool F.C., Arsenal F.C. and Chelsea F.C..

The former United midfielder had reportedly emerged as the leading candidate for the role due to his strong relationship with the squad, calm handling of media responsibilities, understanding of the club’s identity, and most importantly, the positive results achieved on the pitch.
