TWO ARRESTED FOR MURDER OF MALE JUVENILE BY STRANGULATION IN MUBENDE.

Police in Mubende have arrested two suspects in connection with the murder of an 8-year-old boy who was allegedly strangled.
The deceased, identified as Ndyanabo Ian, was a son of Mr. Ndyanabo Polini and Natwijuka Mary, residents of Katabalanga A, Katabalanga Ward, South Division in Mubende Municipality.
According to police, the child went missing on April 14, 2026, after going to fetch water with his 10-year-old sister, Ndyanabo Gorreti. The sister reportedly left him at the well, and he did not return home.
His father later found the small jerrycans the boy had carried abandoned along the path to the well and began searching for him with the help of local residents. The matter was not immediately reported to police.
On April 15, 2026, residents discovered the body of the child in a bush near the family’s coffee garden, with visible signs of a struggle. The body had bruises and a 360-degree neck rotation, indicating strangulation through neck twisting.
The case was reported to Mubende Central Police Station (CPS), and a homicide team visited the scene and documented evidence. Witness statements were recorded, and the body was taken to Mubende Hospital for a postmortem examination.
Police arrested Ndyanabo Derrick, aged 18, who reportedly confessed to killing his younger brother with the help of Mwikiriza Ronald, aged 25, who is also a wanted suspect in a separate murder case reported in 2025.
According to police findings, the suspect allegedly harbored malice against his siblings, accusing them of disrespect, and had intended to harm both children but only managed to attack the younger one.
Mwikiriza Ronald has also reportedly confessed to the earlier murder case.
The incident has left residents of Katabalanga village and the wider Mubende Municipality in shock, as such acts are considered highly unusual within families.
Police suspect that substance abuse may have contributed to the suspect’s actions.
The suspects are expected to appear in court once the Resident State Attorney in Mubende sanctions the charges against them.
