Kuwait Airport Hit as US and Iran Exchange Fresh Military Strikes

Kuwait said its international airport was struck by Iranian drones and missiles as the United States and Iran carried out fresh military attacks, raising fears of a further escalation in regional tensions.

According to Kuwait’s state news agency, the attack caused damage to Terminal 1 at Kuwait International Airport and injured several people. Authorities temporarily diverted flights as emergency crews responded to the incident.

The United States military said Iran launched missiles and drones toward targets in Kuwait and Bahrain. U.S. Central Command reported that some missiles failed to reach their targets, while others were intercepted by American and Bahraini air defence systems.

In response, U.S. forces carried out strikes on Iranian military facilities on Qeshm Island near the Strait of Hormuz. U.S. officials said the operation targeted sites linked to missile and drone activities that posed a threat to American forces and civilian shipping in the region.

Iran said its attacks were a response to recent U.S. military actions and accused Washington of violating understandings aimed at reducing hostilities. Iranian state media described the strikes as retaliation for American operations in and around the Gulf.

The latest exchange comes amid stalled diplomatic efforts between Washington and Tehran. While U.S. officials have said talks remain active, reports from Iranian media suggest communication between the two sides has become increasingly strained.

The renewed fighting also pushed oil prices higher as investors monitored the security situation around the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important routes for oil shipments.

Regional governments have urged restraint, warning that further military action could destabilise the Gulf and threaten wider Middle East security.
