The Speaker, Jacob Marksons Oboth is in Lilonge, Malawi for the 55th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Africa Region Conference.

The conference which is taking place at the Bingu International Convention Centre is being held under the theme, ‘Renewing the Social Contract: Parliaments as Catalysts for Inclusive Growth and Citizen Trust’.

The meeting will focus on strengthening parliamentary democracy and legislative oversight while tackling pressing issues such as rebuilding public trust and deepening inclusive governance through greater transparency.

The CPA Africa Region is made up to 63 national and subnational legislatures and operates under the guidance of a Coordinating and Executive Committee.
