PS/SJ Bigirimana scoops SEAJAA Chairperson role
In an election for the new Southern and Eastern Africa Judicial Administration Association (SEAJAA), leadership that was held earlier today at the Supreme Court, Judiciary Headquarters in Kampala, Dr. Pius Bigirimana, the Permanent Secretary/Secretary to the Judiciary, was elected as the new Chairperson of the Association.
Formerly an ordinary member of the SEAJAA Executive Committee, Dr. Bigirimana replaces Prof. Elisante Ole Gabriel, Chief Court Administrator of Tanzania.
Ms. Beaulah Kgakgamatso Mguni, Chief Registrar of Botswana’s High Court, retained her position as SEAJAA’s Vice Chairperson, while Mr. Benhardt Kukuri, Executive Director of the Judiciary of Namibia, continues as Secretary-General. The representative from Malawi also maintained the role of Treasury General. Angola has joined the Executive Committee as a new ordinary member.
In his acceptance remarks, Dr. Bigirimana expressed his passion for serving the Judiciary of Uganda. He pledged to extend this commitment to ensure that the Judiciaries of member States also thrive by sharing experiences and supporting one another.
This is a plus for Uganda as it coincides with the Southern and Eastern Africa Chief Justices’ Forum (SEACJF) – 2024.
SEACJF, hosted by Uganda’s Judiciary, is running from 30th September to 5th October, 2024, at Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala.
