Security Beefed Up in Kampala Amid Planned Anti-Corruption Protests
Security has been beefed up around Kampala especially at the Ugandan Parliament after the army and police foiled a plot by Ugandans who were planning to protest against the use of taxpayer’s money for corruption and embezzlement of funds in the three arms of government by government officials in different ministries.
However, MPs have expressed their views with some saying the authorities needed listen to the people since they were sent to the National Assembly for proper representation.
Others said corruption is rampant and President Yoweri Museveni recently passed orders not to grant bail to arrested corrupt officials.
People say that Ugandans cannot protest peacefully as some use it as an opportunity to loot and commit violence so, Uganda can’t be compared to Kenya even though we are in the same category of the East Africa Legislative Assembly.
