UAF HOSTS ANTI-DOPING SEMINAR FOR ATHLETES
Uganda Athletics Federation has organized an anti-doping seminar for its athletes in camp ahead of the World Cross Country Championships in Qatar.
Athletics’ most glamorous event starts on 27th September and Uganda will dispatch 22 of its best to contest for honors.
With doping becoming a big threat to the progress of global sport, various local federations are educating players of what exactly doping is.
Uganda athletics federation has led the way for its team that contests at the world athletics championship later this month.
During the one-day seminar organized in collaboration with national anti-doping organization, the athletes were taken through various subjects.
They learnt of the world anti-doping code, prohibited substances and circumstances in which each applies dangers and consequences of doping, their rights and the doping control process.

Uganda’s prize athlete Joshua Cheptegei has been through several tests before and played a key role during the exercise as a sample and offered his opinion about doping.
They were advised to seek medical guidance and benefit from therapeutic use exemption which for example allows use of salbutamol for asthma patients though it’s a banned substance.
Uganda’s world athletics championship bound team has 22 players including Stephen Kiprotich, Benjamin Kiplagat and Juliet Chekwel.
Uganda will at the world athletics championship at Qatar’s Khalifa International stadium contest in the 400,800,1500,3000,5000 and 10-thousand meters and the marathon.
