SPORTS MINISTER HAMSON OBUA, NATIONAL SPORTS ASSOCIATIONS MEET TO LAY STRATEGIES.

Hamson Obua on his third day in office faced off with sports federation and association heads to get their side of the story in regards to sports management in this country.

As he continues his self accrematisation with the sports sector where he will be serving for the next foreseeable future, Hamson Obua met with federation heads who run sports disciplines on the ground to hear their side of the story in regards to opportunities and challenges lying ahead. However, he was quick to remind them about their duties and responsibilities and what role government has to play

Some of the challenges dogging the sports sector are not limited to funding, dilapidated infrastructures, an outdated law which was constituted in 1964, wrangles within sports federations amongst others. But the new man at the helm of sports promised to rein in with an iron hand

On the other hand federation heads accused the National Council of Sports of leaning more to football in terms of the planed facilities.

As Hamson Obua starts his tenure as the sports minister he has to deal with the elephant in the room – funding. The sports minister committed to the review of the funding policy so as to create a somehow level playing field for the 51 sports disciplines in the country.
