President Urges Wealth Creation as Foundation for Development During Kiboga Visit

During his final stop in Kiboga District, the President addressed a rally, urging citizens to shift focus from unrealistic expectations to wealth creation as the cornerstone for socioeconomic transformation.
Reflecting on his journey from Scripture Union to leadership, he emphasized that his mission was driven not by opposition to religion, but by a stand against poverty and oppression. “You cannot claim to love God and ignore the suffering of His people,” he said, commending religious leaders who now advocate for wealth creation.
He stressed that development must be gradual—”like butchering a cow, done in parts.” He added that a poor population cannot sustain modern infrastructure like roads and hospitals, thus the need to prioritise income generation.
He told leaders of Greater Mubende in Kasanda: “Seek ye first homestead income; the rest will be added unto you.” While acknowledging the development concerns raised, he emphasized the importance of improving household incomes. He thanked the Catholic parishes of Kasanda and Busunju, along with churches such as the Church of Uganda dioceses in Ankole, for encouraging communities to grow enough food and secure extra income. “By doing this,” he noted, “other development needs will come and find us, making it easier to accomplish them.”
Earlier at the State Lodge, he met with journalists from Greater Mubende, encouraging them to champion East African integration and support government programs. He highlighted their role in nation-building and urged them to promote the NRM agenda of patriotism, Pan-Africanism, socioeconomic transformation, and democracy.
Later in Mubende, the President commissioned the new Central Market and tarmacked roads under the USMID program. He called on wealthier traders to give space to low-income earners for whom the market was intended, and urged residents to protect and utilise new infrastructure responsibly to boost local economic growth.
