President Museveni promotes 918 UPDF soldiers

President Yoweri Museveni, who is the Commander in Chief of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), has promoted and confirmed a total of 918 Uganda People’s Defence Forces soldiers to different ranks.

On Wednesday, July 10, a statement was released by the Director of Defence Public Information, Brig. Gen. Felix Kulayigye. In the statement, he noted that “His Excellency the President and Commander in Chief of the UPDF has promoted 898 and confirmed 20 senior and junior officers.”

Specifically, five officers were promoted from Colonel to Brigadier General, while three were elevated from Acting Colonel to Colonel.

Colonel to Brigadier General – 5

Acting Colonel to Colonel – 3

Lieutenant Colonel to Colonel – 15

Acting Lieutenant Colonel to Lieutenant Colonel – 3

Major to Lieutenant Colonel –10

Acting Major to Major – 10

Captain to Major – 63

Acting Captain to Captain – 4

Lieutenant to Captain – 165

Second Lieutenant to Lieutenant – 650
