Mark Zuckerberg is ‘done with’ the Meta’s highest-paid employees

Meta reportedly restructures AI leadership as power shifts away from Alexandr Wang

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is reportedly restructuring the company’s AI leadership just months after bringing Scale AI founder Alexandr Wang into a major role to oversee Meta’s advanced AI efforts.

According to reports, Wang — who joined to lead Meta’s Superintelligence Labs — still holds his title but now appears to have less direct control over key parts of the company’s AI development. Engineering teams, data pipelines, and model evaluation processes are increasingly being organized under other leadership.

Meta recently introduced a new applied AI engineering organization led by Maher Saba, a long-time Reality Labs executive who now reports directly to Chief Technology Officer Andrew Bosworth. The new structure is designed to accelerate the development of tools, infrastructure, and data systems that support Meta’s core AI models.

The move effectively creates a parallel engineering track that works alongside the Superintelligence Labs initiative. Some researchers and engineers involved in building new AI models are now reporting through different executive channels.

The restructuring suggests Meta may be adjusting its strategy as it races to compete in the rapidly evolving AI sector. While Wang remains involved in the company’s AI projects, the changes indicate that leadership responsibilities are being redistributed as Meta pushes to speed up development of its next-generation AI models.
