Lugazi FC: UPL’s Most Affordable Matchday Ticket?

Lugazi FC: UPL’s Most Affordable Matchday Ticket?

Based on current data, Lugazi is one of the three most affordable teams to watch in the Uganda Premier League (UPL), charging as low as Ugx 5,000 for a matchday ticket – same as UPDF and Mbarara City.

The Ankole Lions have previously charged as little as just Ugx 2,000 in some of their home games.

Meanwhile, Lugazi just announced a huge 50% discount on ordinary tickets and 20% on VIP tickets, starting on Friday, when the Lugazi side host Maroons at Najjembe.

Fans will have to part with just half of the usual Ugx 10,000 they have been paying for the ordinary ticket.

“Leaders, you’re the best in the world,” the club acknowledged, in respect for their fans.

“Your unwavering support this season has been overwhelming, unmatched, and has not gone unnoticed. Thank you.”

“All ordinary tickets for the club’s remaining home games this season will now cost just five thousand shillings (5000/=) only,” Lugazi officially confirmed.

Located at Najjembe, in the midst of Mabira forest, the natural, evergreen playing surface at Lugazi stadium is without a doubt, one of the very best used in the UPL.

URA and Express, both hosting at the artificial turf of Hamz stadium, Nakivubo are the most expensive teams to watch in the UPL, consistently charging upto Ugx 20,000 for an ordinary ticket.

SC Villa have been charging Ugx 10,000 for an ordinary ticket, but have confirmed that they will charge double the price when they host Vipers at the Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku on Saturday, March 29.

The other UPL sides all uniformly charge Ugx 10,000 for an ordinary ticket – from Vipers, KCCA, NEC, Kitara, Maroons, Police and BUL to Bright Stars, Wakiso Giants and Mbale Heroes.

Lugazi have ten games left before the end of the season, and five of them will be home, implying that a fan can part with just Ugx 25,000 to catch all the remaining team’s home games.

In Lugazi’s remaining home games, they will host Maroons on March 28, UPDF on April 11, Bright Stars on April 25, URA on May 10 and SC Villa on May 24.

For just Ugx 5,000, fans can watch Fahad Emuran pull of saves at Najjembe, while they enjoy Freedom Mungudit’s runs on the right, and Abdul Kalanzi plus Sam Semugugu’s brilliance up top.

As it stands, Lugazi sit 10th of 16 UPL teams, with 26 points from 20 games, comprising six wins, eight draws and six losses.

The Lugazi-based side is four positions and 12 points above safety, also just four points below the four best-placed teams on the table.

Before playing their 21st UPL game on Friday, the ‘Leaders’ are currently above UPDF (24), Police (23), Mbarara City (22), Wakiso Giants (14), Bright Stars (12) and Mbale Heroes (10).
