Finance Trust Bank Invests Sh2Bn in Women’s Football

Finance Trust Bank has announced a landmark investment of UGX 2 billion in women’s football.

This new sponsorship, made in partnership with the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA), marks a significant step in the bank’s 40-year mission to support women’s achievements across various sectors.

Speaking at the announcement, Finance Trust Bank’s Managing Director, Annet Nakawunde Mulindwa, emphasized the alignment of this sponsorship with the bank’s core mission.

“Finance Trust Bank was first established in 1984 to support women in business and management to achieve their financial dreams.

“The bank has grown since then, and today, we have a network of over 35 branches supporting over half a million women across the country.

“We are excited to now extend our support to women in sports, and I am pleased to formally announce Finance Trust Bank’s two billion shillings sponsorship of the FUFA Women’s Football programme.”

Under this five-year partnership, UGX 1.7 billion will be allocated directly to FUFA, with annual disbursements of UGX 350 million.

The remaining funds will be dedicated to sponsorship activation, ensuring that the partnership not only benefits the teams and players but also raises the profile of women’s football in Uganda.

FUFA President, Hon. Eng. Magogo Moses, expressed his gratitude for the sponsorship, noting that it serves as a testament to the success of FUFA’s women’s football program.

“This sponsorship is a validation of the progress we’ve made in promoting women’s football in Uganda. We are thrilled to partner with Finance Trust Bank, and we believe this investment will have a lasting impact on the development of the sport,” Hon. Eng. Magogo said.

Under this partnership, Finance Trust Bank is now the title sponsor of both the Women Super Leaue and the Women’s Elite League.

Finance Trust Bank will provide financial literacy training to players before providing them with services including Salary Loans. The bank also promised to hire some of the players.
