Explore Belarus investment opportunities Otafire urges Ugandans

Minister of Internal Affairs Kahinda Otafire has encouraged Ugandans to explore investment opportunities in agricultural inputs originating from Belarus.

He highlighted that Belarus is rich in machinery and information technology, sectors where Uganda could benefit by venturing further.

“Ugandans should venture and find out what opportunities are in Belarus, as they did for Turkey and Guangzhou-China. What I know is that Belarus is advanced in agricultural machinery,” Otafire said.

He made the remarks while inaugurating the Consulate of Belarus on Bugolobi Luthuli Avenue.

Otafire also urged Africans to move away from relying on foreign aid, emphasising that establishing embassies opens doors for opportunities and fosters positive international relationships.

“Africa is still begging, and we have failed to explore the resources that we have for the benefit of the people,” he said. “With good relationships, any nation can come and invest anywhere.”

He discouraged Ugandans from seeking work abroad as a form of escape, urging them to focus on improving conditions at home instead.

The newly appointed Consul of Belarus, Singh Katongole, affirmed that bilateral cooperation between Uganda and Belarus would enhance trade, ICT, and machinery exchanges.
