Crested Cranes U17 COSAFA Team Trimmed To 20

Girls U17 National Team to represent Uganda at the 2019 COSAFA U17 championship in Mauritius has been trimmed from 30 to 20.

The team, now has three goalkeepers, five defenders, six midfielders and as many forwards.

Uganda will leave on Wednesday for the tourney that is scheduled on September 20th to 29th, 2019.

Head coach Ayub Khalifa announced the final squad on Sunday evening immediately after the second practice match against FUFA Women Elite League select team at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.

The team has been training at Njeru and will be captained by Juliet Nalukenge.

Uganda U-17 women national team coach Ayub Khalifah says there is much work still needed to be done ahead of the U-17 COSAFA tournament to take place in Mauritius.



Kawempe Muslim SS has the highest number of players with 6, Mukono High School 3 players in the final list while Uganda Martyrs High School Rubaga has 2 players that will travel to Mauritius.
The team will travel to Mauritius on Wednesday 18th September after completing 10 days camped at the FUFA Technical Center.

On Friday 20th September 2019, Uganda will play the first group A match against Zambia at St. Francois Xavier Stadium in Port Luis then face the hosts on Sunday 22nd September before finalizing the group matches with Comoros on Tuesday 24th September at the MFA Technical Facility.
The top two teams in group A and B will qualify for the semifinals.
