Boxing promoter Eddie Gombya and UPBC President Salim Uhuru at Loggerheads
Uganda professional boxing commission president Salim Uhuru has responded to claims by Step-by-step boxing promotion director Eddie Gombya. During a news conference Gombya declared temporary leave from boxing activities citing rot in UPBC-a thing Uhuru vehemently deniesStep-by-step boxing promotions director Eddie Gombya has decided to take temporary leave of his duties. He made the announcement during a news conference in which he cited irregularities at Uganda professional boxing commission in allowing him organize two boxing events one in October, the other December.Gombya has in the past organized fights including the kibiitu kyentomi on December 26th 2018 in which Meddie Sebyala downed Badru Lusambya. He however haplessly looked on mid this year when his Abas Kasumali and Moses Golola-match-up was hijacked by a high-ranking UPBC official who even disguised one of them as a Kenyan in the fight hosted in Arua. Uganda professional boxing commission President Salim Uhuru accepts blame for some inconsistencies within his body but blames Gombya for this latest impasse.Uhuru has promised to clean his house in order to ensure professional boxing thrives like was years ago when actors like Kasim Ouma and Justin Juuko did Uganda proud.
