FDC Appoints Anna Adeke as New Party Whip After Nsibambi Defection

The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has made changes to its parliamentary leadership, naming Soroti District Woman Representative Anna Adeke as the new Party Whip. She replaces Yusuf Nsibambi, who recently crossed to the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).
Speaker Anita Annet Among announced the development during Wednesday’s plenary sitting, referencing a communication from the FDC Secretary General dated 16 March 2026.
While addressing the House, Among confirmed Adeke’s appointment and acknowledged Nsibambi’s departure, extending congratulations to both legislators on their respective transitions.
The Party Whip plays a pivotal role in guiding party members in Parliament, ensuring discipline, coordinating legislative priorities, and maintaining unity during voting, as outlined in the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament of Uganda.
Adeke steps into the position at a crucial period, as Parliament handles key stages of the 2026/27 national budget. Her leadership will be instrumental in keeping the party aligned during debates and decision-making.
A veteran member of the FDC, Adeke has earned recognition for her strong voice on governance, accountability, and youth-related issues.
