Excel Insurance pledges continued support to Independence swimming gala

The annual USF Independence Swimming gala that is exclusive to schools returns this weekend at Kampala International School, Bukoto in what is expected to be an entertaining and competitive event.

It is a tried and tested contest that forms part of Uganda Swimming Federation’s core principal of grass roots development in the country will kick off on Saturday 5th October and climax on Sunday.

On Wednesday afternoon, the 18 edition of event was officially launched at USF’s head offices

Excel Insurance Public Relations Manager Lydia Muganga, USF President Donald Rukare and General Secretary Moses Mwase graced the brief event.



Muganga assured USF continued support towards the tournament that has established various young swimmers

“We as Excel Insurance promise continued support to this tournament that has established many young boys and girls.”

We have sponsored this event for 18 years and we are very willing to continue with our partnership for the development of the sport.”

Rukare the Federation president expects a competitive event.

“We expect an exciting and competitive tournament this year and we thank our various sponsors for the support given to us as we aim at a successful event.”

This year the number of participating schools has increased to 25 compared to last year’s 12. Schools such as Aga Khan, Galaxy International, Greenhill, Kampala Parents, Kampala Junior, Kampala International, Gayaza High, British School, Kampala Parents, Gems Cambridge, Bethel International, Makerere University, Makerere Business School and Ndejje University have all confirmed participation.



The event is expected to attract over 400 Swimmers.

Last year, Aga Khan were the overall winners with 3,260 points, British School of Kampala was second on 2032 points whereas Gems Cambridge finished in third place with 1768points.
